Wednesday

Tonight is the school's skate night at classic skate. The kids were asked to dress up in their costumes. Andrew didn't get to go since he is sick but Emma went and had a great time. Paul is such a good daddy to take her.

Tuesday

Last week sometime, someone shared red apples in the bounty booth. I took a bag and off I went. For one reason or another they never got taken into the house. They rolled around in the car for days. I finally brought them in but so far they haven't made it up the stairs. They are still sitting there. Right now. Oops.

Monday

Today I decided to take a risk and drive from Macey's to Kneaders in the hopes of getting a cinnamon roll. They sell out really early in the day so there were no guarantees I would get my object of desire. When I got there I was thrilled to see they still had them. I bought three and some of their famous pumpkin bread. Since it is such a staple around here I thought I had better showcase it on my blog ;)

TIme to catch up

October 14th.

Our flight to Portland was running about 30 minutes late. It took us a while to get our luggage, our car and then drive to our hotel. It was close to 12:30 Utah time when we got to our room. We both went right to sleep.
October 15th

Today we walked around downtown Portland. The vibrate autumn colors on the trees was a delight. We loved the city, especially Powell's.
October 16th

Today we drove to Tillamook and toured the cheese factory. I loved it there. It was so fun to see and sample the cheese. My favorite part of the day was when we ate the ice cream. It was delicious.
October 17th

Today we drove through the most severe rain I think I have ever driven through to see Multnomah Falls. We got so wet but it was worth it. The falls were gorgeous.

October 18th

Today is our last day in Portland. I wanted a picture of what we got to see each morning at breakfast. I just loved watching the streetcars and seeing the gorgeous fall leaves.
October 19th

Tonight we took the kids to see Stellaluna at the Scera. It was done with puppets. It was cute and the kids enjoyed it but I was glad when it was over. I don't recommend buying tickets for the night after returning home from a trip.
October 20th

Today Maggie and I went on a walk by the canal and the water had been drained. There was still some left and the ducks were trying to make the most of it. They were quacking back and forth and we joked that they were saying, "hey, where the hell did the water go?" They sounded confused LOL!
October 21st

While I was gone Emma made me a Christmas present. She wrapped it up so I wouldn't peek at it before Christmas. She even made me an ornament and used that as part of the packaging. It's adorable and I can't wait to put it on our tree this year.
October 22nd

My Aspens are turning yellow and dropping their leaves. It seems like yesterday that I was taking pictures of the brand new, green, tender leaves of spring.
October 23rd

Today was wonderful. I got to go to Salt Lake to see my cousin get married. It was so nice to be able to spend the day with family and to be at the temple.
October 24th

Today is the Homecoming game. BYU vs. TCU. Too bad that TCU creamed us. I do get very excited each time they light up the Y though. There is just something about it that makes me happy.
October 25th

Tonight we went to dinner and Joi and David's home. We went so that Paul and David could give Grandpa David a blessing for the surgery that he is going to have this week. While we were there we got to meet the new kittens, Max and Millie. They are ragdoll kitties. They are so cute and oh so fluffy.

Yesterday my dryer died. This dryer was given to us a long time ago. Paul and I were living in our first home. We had a washer and a clothes line. That was it. The secretary where Paul worked offered us her old dryer. I remember her saying she didn't know how long it would last. That was over 13 years ago! Notice the wood paneling. Notice the broken lint catcher. This thing made the most horrid noises. The bearings were shot, but it kept going. It would get so hot it would scorch our underwear. We kept it though because it worked and it was free. Would you believe it was the heating element that finally gave out? I will miss you. You worked long and hard for us and I appreciate your service. It breaks my heart to see it sitting out back waiting to be taken to it's final resting place.

Here is another one of outdoor Halloween decorations. I have to say, I do enjoy the orange lights and creepy spiders.

Sunday

The kids wanted some scary Halloween stuff for our yard. While I would prefer cutesy harvest things (think hay bales, pumpkins and scarecrows) I aim to please. I surprised the kids with some tacky, scary, Halloween decor. I think our scene turned out pretty good.

Saturday

Oh how I love pumpkins. They are all so unique. There are thousands of shapes and sizes. Tonight we saw warty pumpkins, large pumpkins, small pumpkins, green pumpkins, tall pumpkins, short pumpkins, and even mushy pumpkins. I loved them all.

Friday

Aren't they cute? Father and son watching a movie on the laptop. Awww.

Thursday

Tonight a small group of us girls got together and went to Fame. We really enjoyed it! When we got there though the theater was completely black, no lights at all, no other people. It was hilarious. Finally four other people showed up. We felt like we had a private showing.

Wednesday

It seems like we have been going to Orem/Provo a lot lately. We drive through Lindon on our way and I am always in awe of the beauty of this tree. It is so unique the way it is part green and part red. Today I finally had my camera with me and I got a picture of it.

Tuesday

Today I finally got to pick up my wall hanging from the quilters. I had asked for pumpkins but had no idea that they would do them like this in the light parts. It was such a fun surprise!

Monday

Today the kids got to stay home from school because it was a teacher's prep day. It wasn't all fun and games though. Emma had two teeth pulled. She was very nervous going in but did great!

Sunday

We love Halloween around here. Today we finally got everything put out. It's a bit of a clusterfudge but the kids and I like it.

Saturday

Tonight we took the kids to see Into the Woods. It was great. I love that at the Scera they let you meet the cast after the show.

Friday

Tonight we went to the BYU vs. Utah State game. It was a gorgeous sunset and the fall weather was crisp and cool. It was a perfect night for football.

Once Again I Can't Decide

Mount Timp. or Apples? Only time will tell.

Wednesday

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I thought my head was going to explode from the heat while exercising and today it is chilly willy. I have to say that I prefer the cooler weather. It's cold weather that I can't deal with.

The Peach Shake Experiment

Today I got to have lunch with some fabulous friends. We drove through Taco Amigo and then went to a park to eat. It was hot today and a peach shake sounded quite fabulous. I have to say I didn't like it. It was too chunky. I am so glad I tried it though. Now I no longer have to wonder if I would love it or not.

9/28/09

This picture really doesn't do the beauty justice. I love fall. I remember my first fall in Utah. I couldn't believe how awesome the mountains looked. I still love looking up at the mountain and seeing all the splotches of color. It makes me very happy. I feel very blessed to live here.
