May 29th & 30th

Today at the pool I tried out my burst feature on a super fast shutter speed. I got some really fun shots. This one cracked my up. I think it's time we introduce Andrew to the Karate Kid.

Today was the last day of school. I wanted to get pictures of the kids and once again Andrew decided to try and plant one on Emma. She is so good about tolerating him.

Yesterday

Friday was the last day of school. I have a few pictures that I am deciding between. I will post something by tonight.

Another Self Portrait

I cut 6-7" off of my hair on Tuesday. I have had it long for years and I was finally ready for a change. I am sure one of these days I will want my long hair back but for now I am happy to have it look different.

Our New Recipe for May

I am still trying a new recipe at least once a month. This month we tried Grilled Chicken Pasta in Tomato Cream Sauce. I found the recipe on Kevin and Amanda's Blog. We all liked it! It was very mild and easy. It made a nice dinner when served with salad and bread. We will be making it again.

May 26th 2009

Today was the dance festival. The 5th graders danced to John Kanaka-naka. The girls looked so pretty in their bright colored sarongs.

Happy Memorial Day

As we were going to the outlets this afternoon I saw this sight. I fell head over heels in love. On the way out of town I begged Paul to circle to the other side of the freeway so I could take a picture. I am so glad that he did it for me. I think this might be one of my favorite pictures of all time.

May 24, 2009

Today we headed to Park City for an overnighter with the kids. The resort had an awesome indoor/outdoor pool with a few hot tubs. Here Emma is getting ready to go back into the pool from the indoor hot tub.

May 23, 2009

Last night was our ward's temple night. We had a really good turn out. There was a very sweet spirit there and I am so glad that I went. It's a wonderful feeling to see so many familiar faces.

Bruschetta anyone? It is one of my favorite foods. I use tomatoes, basil and tons of garlic. Paul hates it when I eat it because I have garlic breath for days. I am so excited to have herbs in my garden this year. As soon as my tomatoes grow I will be living on bruschetta!

You know how I hate to double blog...

Andrew was so excited to wear his scout uniform, until he found out he had to tuck it in. Once we got his pants and belt loosened, his shirt tucked and somewhat comfortable he was good to go. I think he looks so handsome in his uniform. He was so cute at pack meeting. He volunteered to do everything and did it with an excited gleam in his eye.

Today I made a batch of strawberry freezer jam. Paul loves it because I blend my berries so there are no "big hanging chunks" of fruit. Rees~Thanks for sending over the recipe.

May 19th 2009

Yesterday I begged Maggie to take me to the scout store and help me get the stuff Andrew needs for his first pack meeting this week. I was so overwhelmed. I'm wondering what we have gotten ourselves into.

May 18th 2009

Today was the hottest day of the year. That means it's pool time again. We love swimming and playing in the water. The pool felt great and the kids had a lot of fun.

May 17th 2009

Our stake president asked us all to plant a garden this year. It was late and not as large as years past but we started ours last night. Today I went out to see how the plants were doing and everything looks good. I can't wait for fresh veggies from my own garden again. It kills me to pay money for zucchini.

Today we took the kids to Trafalga to play miniature golf. We all had a ton of fun. Recently we taught the kids about warm fuzzies and cold pricklies. (A flashback from my kindergarten days.) While we were golfing Andrew said "I have warm fuzzies." I'm glad that we can do these things with the kids.

Soon we will have butter yellow iris' in the terraces across the front of the house. It's really a shame that they will be joined by dandelions, aspen starts and an extensive collection of other various weeds.

We bought Andrew a set of scriptures for his baptism. Since then he has been helping us read at night. He does a great job. It is so special to me to have both of my kids eager to read. It is becoming a tradition for us all to read the last verse of the chapter together. I am pleased to say that we are on Helaman 13.

May 13th 2009

Yum yum yum. I was so excited to hear that we needed to do an errand near the candy store. I couldn't help myself. I had to buy a couple of apples.

Yesterday

I *have* to start quilting again! I want this to hang off of my shelf for the summer but I don't think it is the best way to get back into it. The pieces are very small and in reality I may never finish. I have another option that is quick and very easy but it isn't nearly as cute. It's so hard to decide what to do.

Mowing the Lawn

Mowing the lawn in the job that Paul hates the most. Our front yard is steep and then there are terraces. The back yard is just...big. It takes two hours for him to mow both the front and back. That does not include any weed whacking. Because of that he lets the back get a little longer than it should. Here is the evidence.

Tonight we went to see Paul's grandma for Mother's Day. The kids love the koi pond that they have there. They are doing some analysis on it right now so it was pretty nasty. When we went out to get the kids they weren't there. I snapped this picture quickly before going into panic mode. Don't worry, we found the kids.

I fell in love with Kwanzan Cherry trees when we moved to Utah. We finally planted one a few years ago but it started growing sideways. Today we finally staked it. It is a late blooming tree. The pink blossoms can still be seen after it gets it's green leaves. My favorite color combo is pink and green. The blossoms are almost all done around here. This little tree is our grand finale.

Yesterday

I haven't been feeling well lately so I don't have a lot of options. We went and looked at this house on Friday. We are most definitely interested in it. Only time will tell what our future holds.

Thursday May 7th

Last night a large group of us went to dinner at the Olive Garden. We were there for a long time. The kids were starting to get tired but they were very well behaved the whole time. I wanted a picture of my nephew Calvin. He got so excited while getting his picture taken. Isn't he just too cute!?!

It's that time of year

We have had rain recently and the weeds are everywhere! I can't help but like dandelions though. They are so cool looking and they provide a lot of entertainment. I try not let Paul catch me blowing them on our lawn.

HaPpY CiNcO De MaYo!

Last night Robb and Maggie invited us to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with them at Rubio's. I got grilled Mahi Mahi fish tacos. The kids left exclaiming that they never wanted to eat fast food again. I am so okay with that!

May 4th

These are some cute little "dust collectors" that I got for my birthday from Rod Works. I like to change this shelf out seasonally and didn't have anything for the time between Easter and my patriotic stuff.

Sunday May 3rd

Today I wanted to go to Temple Square. We haven't been to see the spring flowers for a couple of years. I love all the tulips. I couldn't believe how many there were. It was gorgeous. Emma was eager to model for me and loved all the flowers as much as I did. Andrew, not so much. Next year maybe just the two of us will go.

Saturday, May 2nd

Today was a very special day. I got to watch my baby Andrew get baptized. I was very proud of him. I love my baby boy very much.

Friday May 1st

We celebrated my birthday a day early. I always love getting donuts instead of a cake. Here is the beautiful bouquet that Paul brought home for me and my dozen white cake donuts with white frosting and sprinkles.
