Tiki Tatoo

It isn't everyday you get a custom tiki tattoo from the PTA president. I had no idea Mary Anne was such an artist! Andrew loves his tattoo and loves that it matches Harrison's. He didn't want to shower tonight because he was worried it would wash off, but he did, and it still looks great.

Fires

The fires here and in California are mucking up the air. The positive is it does make for beautiful sunsets. I do hope it clears up soon.

Today

We have had some pretty dang hot days this week and today was suppose to be the hottest. We decided to go to the pool one last time. It ended up being quite overcast. It didn't even feel all that hot. I am glad that we went though. We had fun.

Friday

Wizards of Waverly Place the movie was on tonight. The kids have been waiting forever to see it. We were out at dinner while it aired so we Tivo'd it. On our way home we got goodies to snack on. We had a great time watching it together and eating junk food.

Thursday

I met Paul and Colby at Noodles today for a work lunch. Paul and I normally get piña coladas at Rumbi before the meal but he didn't want them today. After lunch I went to drive past the guys but there were missing. I pulled up next to the wall of windows that Rumbi has and sure enough they were in there getting piña coladas without me. After realizing they had been caught they ended up ordering me a drink. I enjoyed it the whole way home.

Mmmm

Mmmm. Peaches. Some dear soul added peaches to the Bountiful Harvest booth. We have had fresh peach shakes for the last two nights. Delicious! Have I mentioned how much I love getting fruit and veggies from my neighborhood for free? It truly was an inspired idea. I wish I had more to contribute.

This is "Susie"

Andrew found her in our next door neighbor's yard and carried her hom. He wants to keep her so badly but we said no, she probably belongs to someone else. She is very sweet and nice and plump. I pray that she hasn't been dumped. There is no way I want another cat. I really hope that Susie makes her way home.

What happens when your Jewish friend from New York comes for a visit to Utah? You take her to the LDS temple in Salt Lake City to take pictures of course!

Sunday

I think that these jelly rolls are so stinking cool. They are wound so tightly, the colors so swirly, I could stare at them forever. I would like to collect them and just stack them up and let them sit around looking pretty. I had to open this one so I decided to take a picture before I opened it.

Fried Green Tomatoes Kick Butt

I got a kids eat free coupon for Archibald's Restaurant in Gardner Village. We decided to go as a celebration for starting back to school. We checked the menu online and found out they had fried avocado. Oh my good golly. What has this world come to? I had fantasies about how good it would be. Unfortunately it wasn't that great. We will stick with the fried green tomatoes. They were fabulous.

Friday 21st

I got to go to Dancing Under the Stars tonight at the Scera Shell with my friend Tami. I was thrilled that she invited me because it was something I really wanted to see. It was great. Gev, Randi and Brandon from So You Think You Can Dance did awesome performances. I had a great time!

My precious babies were so excited for their first day of school this morning. They just recently got home and reported that their day was great!

Last Day of Freedom

Today was the last day of summer vacation for the kids. We made the most of the day by spending it at the P.G. pool. We shared the day with fabulous friends that once again made me realize how lucky we are to live here.

Crack. Crack I tell you. I don't know any other explanation for my addiction to Taco Amigo's fries. I. Can't. Get. Enough.

Emma Bakes!

Emma wanted brownies tonight. So did everyone else for that matter. I just didn't feel like making them. (Diet and all) She said she would just make them on her own. This is her first time baking something from start to finish, all by herself. She did great and they tasted perfect.

I Hate Bugs

I know that a lot of bugs are good so I put up with them but it doesn't mean I have to like them. This little guy tried breaking and entering three times. He was determined to get in our house. I think that Paul took care of him for good. Too bad.

Saturday

Yesterday we spent some time on BYU's campus. Paul is starting a new semester soon and had a book he needed to buy. The kids and I love to go to the bookstore with him because we always get to buy bulk candy. As soon as football season starts we will be spending a lot more time on campus.

August 14th

Today the kids got to meet their teachers and for a reading evaluation. They were so excited to see the classrooms. Andrew's class has a detective theme. His teacher had the kids dress up like a detective for a picture and I snapped one too.

Yesterday

This eveing there was a beautiful double rainbow. I could see the whole arch. I wasn't in the best position to get pictures unfortunately. I do like this one with the mountain behind it.

224/365

Tonight we ate dinner in the American Fork Canyon. We had fire roasted weenies, chips and soda for dinner and smores for dessert. The kids also got to see a bat and hold a fish. We had a great time.

Yum Yum Yum (Tuesday)

Tonight we had a Pea Gathering at Leatherby's in Taylorsville. I had my regular. A small sundae with toasted almond ice cream, caramel and all the toppings. It was fabulous.

Monday night

There was no formal FHE tonight. We boxed up a bunch of stuff from the bookshelves in the office, we drove them to storage and then we had snow cones. We looked like a bunch of hillbilly's sitting in the grass in our grubbies but it was still yummy and fun.

Sunday

My garden is doing well for the amount of work that I have put into it but it isn't going as well as years past. My pumpkins are looking great though. It's like an Easter egg hunt trying to find them in all the weeds.

Saturday

Today we went to our time share presentation. We left without spending the 32+ thousand dollars it would take for us to vacation 20 nights a year and create memories that would last long after we are gone. (Can you see me rolling my eyes?) What we did leave with is $30 in gift cards to Maverick. We decided to take the kids and have a little fun with the money.

Friday

I'm making a little progress on my quilt. It frustrates me because one row never lines up but everything measures correctly. I don't get it. It makes it hard for me to want to work on it but I am.

218/365

Impulse buy? Maybe a little. We had been wanting a new bed for years. We had been looking for about 9 months but we had been waiting for a great deal. While we were at the RC Willey outlet getting something for Paul's work they made us the deal we were waiting for. We weren't expecting to buy anything for ourselves but we did. We couldn't refuse. We are now loving a new king sized bed.

I love summer storms. Unfortunately we didn't get any rain out of this one but I did see lightning. I have to say that these storms are one of my favorite things about summer. I love watching them roll in and roll out. It always amazes me how quick they come and go.

Which crappy shot do I choose?

I did not try very hard to get a picture today. I had this, green beans from out garden smothered in butter and seasonings or my first green pepper. The problem with the pepper is it had already been cut. Lame I know. I will try harder, soon.

I love this!

Earlier this year our Stake President asked everyone to plant a garden and to find a way to share the excess with friends and neighbors. A few of these booths have popped up around our area and it always warms my heart to see them full of beautiful, fresh, vegetables. I am also grateful since my zucchini plants didn't do well this year. I know that there will be no shortage of zucchini in our neighborhood and that I will be able to get it when I need it.

Sunday Night

I have a habit of locking Paul out of the house, as a joke of course ;) Well tonight all three got locked out, totally by accident. I swear. When I saw the kids all ticked off through the window I knew I had to grab my camera. I realize that this is only funny to me, but know that I am rolling at this picture.

Sold!

Today we listed six things on the classifieds online. The one item that I was thinking of keeping is the only thing that has sold so far. I am a little sad to see it go. It has been the backdrop for every holiday/birthday dinner since we moved here. Where am I going to tie my balloons now?

Friday

The kids have been waiting impatiently all summer to find out who their new teacher was going to be. Today was the day. We drove down and found out that Emma got the teacher she wanted and Andrew got a brand new boy teacher. They are both really excited.

Thursday

Tonight I was able to pick three more grape tomatoes out of our garden. They're coming slowly but surely. Paul says they are delicious. I ate one and it was fine but then again I have nothing to compare it to since I normally pick tomatoes out of my salad!
